Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and communities. From humble beginnings in 2011, the award-winning Plastic Free July campaign is the result of years of hard work.
Here at TC, our Marketing team has been taking part in the Plastic Free July challenge to see just how much of a difference we can make. At the start of July, each member of our team pledged to change something about the way we use plastic in our every day lives. Take a look below to see the pledges we made and how we feel about the challenge as we reach the end of the month.
‘I actually found using a re-usable water bottle more convenient than bottled mineral water. It meant that I could keep getting fresh chilled water from the dispenser in the office and it would stay chilled for longer. I’ll be sticking with my re-usable bottle from now on.’
‘It felt good to support local independent fruit & veg sellers throughout plastic free July. By only buying the amount of produce which I needed, a bonus benefit ended up being that I was left with less food waste as well as little to no plastic packaging. This is definitely a habit which I will continue with.’
‘I found it easier than I expected to stick to using reusable products. Whether it be bottles, containers or shopping bags, reusable is the way to go. I also started growing vegetables in the garden, contributing towards me picking up less plastic packaging in the supermarket.’
‘Over the past month, I’ve chosen to buy loose or netted fruit and vegetables when shopping, meaning I take home less single-use plastic. Also, when I’m out hiking or playing tennis, I’ve been taking a reusable bottle to fill up with water.’
Whether you change just one thing, or go all in, making even the slightest difference will help reduce the amount of plastic used on a daily basis.
Plastic Free July may be coming to an end this week, but you can still get involved. Head over to their website to find out all the ways that you can make a change.
